Here is a nutmeg- oil on canvas 30X25 cm

Sometimes, the most familiar things can become a total mystery when we see them in their truest form. This painting was born from a moment of discovery during a trip to Africa. After walking through the vibrant sensory overload of a spice market, my guide reached out and showed me this: the nutmeg in its original, raw state.

Even though it is my favorite spice, I didn't recognize it. I was captivated by the presentation—the way the fruit splits to reveal the striking, lace-like crimson of the mace inside. It was a beautiful, silent exchange between a guide’s hand and the earth’s bounty.

In this work, I wanted to capture that exact feeling of wonder. Set against a deep, velvet ultramarine, the hand doesn't just hold the fruit; it offers a story of travel, origin, and the surprising beauty of the natural world. It is a reminder that there is always more to see if we take the time to look closer.
